About Diane
Diane is the Owner and Head Trainer of Diane’s Clever K9s, with a lifelong passion for dogs and dog training. Growing up in Scotland, she began her journey by competing as a junior handler in both conformation and obedience, which ignited her deep love for training.
With a career dedicated to animals, Diane has worked extensively in dog training and the pet retail industry. She has competed in high-level dog sports such as Schutzhund/IGP, Mondioring with her Belgian Malinois and Agility with her Jack Russell, always pushing herself and her dogs to excel. Diane has attended numerous seminars and educational events hosted by some of the most innovative and respected trainers in the dog training and competitive sports fields. She is committed to staying at the forefront of dog training techniques by continuously studying the latest theories and methods. Her training philosophy is rooted in a positive, reward-based approach that fosters clear communication between dog and handler. Diane uses treats, toys, and praise to reinforce desirable behaviors, while establishing a clear distinction between acceptable and unacceptable actions. Her ultimate goal is to help dog owners strengthen their bond with their dogs, resulting in a happier and healthier relationship. Diane is a certified dog trainer through NADOI, the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors, an AKC approved CGC Evaluator and member of the Durango Kennel Club, Durango Agility Dog Club, Ouray Working Dog Club and a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. |
November 2017.....FANTASTIC 2 day seminar in Parker, CO with Jeff Gellman of Solid K9 Training from Providence, Rhode Island. At this intensive seminar Jeff worked with dog aggression, on and off leash obedience, lots of behavior modification, resource guarding, counter surfing, jumping, crate anxiety, over arousal in dogs and teaching dogs Calm on Command. |
