About Diane
Hello, my name is Diane, Owner and Head Trainer of Diane’s Clever K9s. I have always loved dogs and started my passion for dog training growing up in Scotland, showing dogs as a junior handler in both conformation and obedience. I regularly attended group training classes with my dogs to enhance my training and learn new skills.
My career has always focused on animals as a dog trainer and working in the pet retail industry. I have been a dog training instructor for the Durango Kennel Club teaching puppy and basic obedience classes. With my personal dogs (Belgian Malinois and Parson Russell Terrier), I have trained and competed in the sports of Schutzhund/IGP, Mondioring and Agility. I have attended numerous seminars and educational events by some of the most innovative and respected trainers in dog training and competitive dog sports and continuously study the latest theories in dog training to keep up with the latest dog training methods. My training philosophy is centered on a reward based system that is clear and effective in communicating with your dog. I utilize treats, toys and praise as reward during training, with distinction between what is and what is not acceptable behavior. My goal is to help you develop and build a better relationship with your dog. I am a certified dog trainer through NADOI, the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors, an AKC approved CGC Evaluator and member of the Durango Kennel Club, Durango Agility Dog Club, Ouray Working Dog Club and a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. |
